Call for Abstracts

On behalf of the Scientific Commmittee of EORNA 2026, we would like to encourage you to submit your work as abstract for oral or poster presentation.

Abstract submission deadline is July 23, 2025 (23:59 CEST).

General rules for abstract submission:

  • All abstracts must be submitted online through the abstract submission system by the deadline given above. Abstracts that are sent via e-mail will not be considered.
  • Abstracts must be written in English using “Sentence case”.
  • Please do NOT submit multiple copies of the same abstract.
  • The submitting author is required to ensure that all co-authors are aware of the content of the abstract before submission.
  • It is the authors’ responsibility to submit a correct abstract. Any errors in spelling, grammar or scientific fact will be reproduced as typed by the author.
  • Only accepted abstracts of presenting authors who have completed their registration (incl. payment) by the registration deadline for abstract presenters will be included in the Scientific Program and publications.
  • Each presenting author may submit a maximum of two abstracts 
  • The final decision whether an abstract is accepted as a poster or oral presentation, or even rejected, will be made by the Scientific Committee.

Information for authors

While preparing your abstract for submission, you have to consider: 

1. In which format would you like to present your research? 

  • Oral presentation
  • E-Poster

2. Which study type does your abstract belong to? 

  • Scientific Research: Systematic reviews, descriptive studies, analytical studies, qualitative / quantitative studies. Authors Submitting a “Scientific Research” Study are required to elaborate Background, Objectives, Methods, Results and Conclusion. 
  • Case Study: Authors submitting a “Case Study” are required to add Background, Objectives and Conclusion.
  • Compilation: Compilations can only be submitted as e-posters.

3. Which topic is mostly represented in the content?

  • Please see the topic list below.

    Submission guidelines

    • All abstracts must be written in English.
    • Use acronyms only when necessary and define all non-standard abbreviations and concepts in your abstract at first use.
    • Please ensure complete listing and correct order of all (co-) authors.
    • Abstract titles can contain a maximum of 20 words (no abbreviations) and should not be written with all capitals. 
    • The abstract body should not exceed 300 words 
      • Images, tables, diagrams and graphs are not accepted and will not be displayed.
      • All submitted abstracts can be edited until the submission deadline. To view or edit your abstract please use the button above and log in to your abstract submission account.

      Abstract structure

      The abstract body must not exceed 300 words. Please also ensure that you follow the different structures for Scientific Research, Case Study, and Compilation, as outlined below.

      Scientific Research

      • Background (shortly indicate the rationale of the study)
      • Objectives (define the purpose of the study of the hypothesis that was tested)
      • Methods (include the settings for the study, the subjects, and the type of statistical analysis; if references are needed, they should be given in APA-style in the text)
      • Results (Key findings present as clearly as possible the outcome of the study and statistical significance if appropriate)
      • Conclusion (briefly discuss the data and emphasize the significane of the results).

      Case Study

      • Background (shortly indicate the rationale of the study)
      • Objectives (define the purpose of the study of the hypothesis that was tested)
      • Conclusion (briefly discuss the data and emphasize the significane of the results).

      Compilation

      • Background (shortly indicate the rationale of the study)
      • Objectives ( the author should explain the motivation for presenting this topic and its relevance to the field)
      • Conclusion (briefly discuss the data and emphasize the significane of the results).

      Topics for abstract submission

      A main topic that is relevant for your abstract must be selected during the submission process. The Scientific Organizing Committee reserves the right to change the topics during the abstract review process.

      Review Process and Notifications of Acceptance

      • All submitted abstracts will be scored and passed through a review process after the submission closes.
      • The notification of acceptance, including the presentation details, will be sent to the presenting author’s e-mail address.

      All submitted abstracts will be reviewed based on the criteria specified below and the scoring rubric. Authors are invited to consider these criteria while preparing and before submitting the abstract. 

      1. Relevance: The content is relevant for clinical practice, it is of interest to the scientific community, it aligns with the submission topics
      2. Originality: The content is original and noteworthy
      3. Scientific content: If you have chosen the study type “Scientific Research” the reviewers will evaluate the following aspects: The purpose of the study is clearly stated; Methods & recommendations made for practice, research, service, or teaching; Design sample, setting, data collection, and data analysis methods are identified and appropriate for the research purpose/question.
      4. Language and guidelines: The abstract follows the guidelines and is well written.
